When the AAP Government moves to shut down nearly 12,000 Youth Clubs, Youth Akali Dal president Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer calls it a betrayal of Punjab’s youth, not a reform. His challenge is blunt: If these clubs were truly “inactive,” how much funding, equipment or support did the Government actually provide over the last four years ? And if support never came, who failed whom ? With elections nearing, the decision raises a sharper concern, are Youth Clubs being dismantled to strengthen youth engagement or redesigned to suit political interests ?

ਜਦੋਂ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਕਰੀਬ 12,000 ਯੂਥ ਕਲੱਬ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਯੂਥ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਝਿੰਜਰ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਇਹ ਕਲੱਬ ਵਾਕਈ “ਗੈਰ-ਸਰਗਰਮ” ਸਨ, ਤਾਂ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਗ੍ਰਾਂਟ, ਖੇਡ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ? ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਤਾਂ ਨਾਕਾਮੀ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਹੈ ? ਚੋਣ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਯੂਥ ਕਲੱਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤੋੜਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਹਿਤਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ?
