After years of setbacks, internal dissent, and shrinking vote share, the Shiromani Akali Dal is often written off. Yet, despite criticism, Sukhbir Singh Badal remains the only leader who has held the party together through its worst phase. So the key question before 2027 is this, is Akali Dal’s revival still possible under Sukhbir Badal’s leadership or is the party being unfairly judged for a decline driven more by changing politics than by leadership alone ?

ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣ ਹਾਰਾਂ, ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਅਸਹਿਮਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਘਟਦੇ ਮਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਸਰ ਨਜ਼ਰਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਨੇਤਾ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲ ਦੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਤਾਂ 2027 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਸਲ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਮੁੜ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਘਟਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਨਾਕਾਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬਲਕਿ ਬਦਲ ਰਹੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ?
