For decades, the Badal family has played a central role in Akali politics. Recent allegations and political attacks have again raised questions about the relationship between the Badal family, Akali politics and Sikh institutions. Although these claims are politically contested and include allegations that need to be distinguished from established facts. When the Badal family remains closely linked with Akali politics, where should the line be drawn between family-led party politics, Panthic politics and the independent role of Sikh institutions and has that line become too blurred in Punjab ?
