Akali Dal Punar Surjit has kept its distance from the Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal, but the faction has also made it clear that it is open to an alliance with the BJP. Giani Harpreet Singh’s recent letter to Amit Shah, seeking central action on drugs, gang networks and other concerns, adds another layer to that political outreach. But what happens if the BJP and the Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal finally come together for 2027 ? Will Punar Surjit still keep its distance from the Badal camp or will its openness to the BJP force it to rethink that red line ?

ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਪੁਨਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਨੇ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਇਸ ਧੜੇ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਮਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ, ਗੈਂਗ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਪੱਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜੇ 2027 ਲਈ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਆਖਿਰਕਾਰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ? ਕੀ ਪੁਨਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਬਾਦਲ ਧੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ ਜਾਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਰੁਖ ਬਦਲਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕਰੇਗੀ ?
