Yet the party's internal crisis appears deeper than ever, with senior leaders openly opposing Raja Warring and parallel power centres continuing to grow. This raises a bigger question: Has Bhupesh Baghel succeeded in strengthening the Punjab Congress, or has he merely been managing one internal crisis after another? If repeated interventions have failed to restore unity, does the party need a new strategy instead of more damage control ?

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਬਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭੂਪੇਸ਼ ਬਘੇਲ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਕਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਧੜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ, ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਧੜੇਬੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਸੰਕਟ ਹੋਰ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੜਿੰਗ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਨਾਂਤਰ ਤਾਕਤ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਉਭਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ: ਕੀ ਭੂਪੇਸ਼ ਬਘੇਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਕ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਸੰਕਟ ਹੀ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਏ ਹਨ ? ਜੇ ਵਾਰ-ਵਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਵੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਏਕਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਰਹੀ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਕ ਨਵੀਂ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ?
