Just when Punjab thought it had seen every political experiment, Nitish Kumar's JD(U) has entered the state's political arena. But with virtually no electoral base, little grassroots presence and the baggage of being a long-time NDA ally, many believe its role may be less about winning Punjab and more about strengthening the BJP's broader strategy. This raises a bigger question: Is JD(U) seriously fighting for its own political future in Punjab, or simply playing a supporting role in the BJP's game plan ?

A) JD(U) has little independent political future in Punjab and is unlikely to emerge as a serious force.

B) JD(U)'s biggest contribution could be indirectly helping the BJP expand its political footprint in Punjab.

ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਹਰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਉਦੋਂ ਨੀਤੀਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਦੀ ਜੇ.ਡੀ.(ਯੂ) ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸਤਕ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰ ਨਾ ਮਾਤਰ ਜਨ ਆਧਾਰ, ਸੀਮਿਤ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਐਨ.ਡੀ.ਏ. ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇ.ਡੀ.(ਯੂ) ਦਾ ਮਕਸਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਜਿੱਤਣਾ ਘੱਟ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਵੱਧ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ: ਕੀ ਜੇ.ਡੀ.(ਯੂ) ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਆਈ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਿਯੋਗੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ?
