Days after Rahul Gandhi publicly warned Punjab Congress leaders to behave like “team players” or risk being “benched,” senior figures such as Partap Singh Bajwa, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, and Charanjit Singh Channi have tried to maintain a composed public posture. However, the remark has once again drawn attention to the long-running leadership tussle inside the Punjab Congress and the party’s continued reluctance to project a clear chief ministerial face. After Rahul Gandhi’s public warning to Punjab Congress leaders, is the sudden display of “team spirit” genuine unity or merely a temporary show of discipline after being pulled up by the high command, and for how long will the party continue to avoid the question of its chief ministerial face in Punjab ?

ਕੁਝ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਮੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ “ਟੀਮ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ” ਵਾਂਗ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ “ਬੈਂਚ” ’ਤੇ ਬਿਠਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਜਵਾ, ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਾਜਾ ਵੜਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਨਤਕ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਸੰਤੁਲਿਤ ਰਵੱਈਆ ਦਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਸ ਟਿੱਪਣੀ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚਤਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਚਰਚਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੀ ਜਨਤਕ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਖ ਰਹੀ “ਟੀਮ ਭਾਵਨਾ” ਕੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹਾਈਕਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਫਟਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਸਥਾਈ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਚਦੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ ?
