Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and K.C. Venugopal have drawn a line, asking leaders like Raja Warring, Partap Singh Bajwa and Charanjit Singh Channi to fall in step. But enforcing unity from Delhi is easier than practising it in Punjab. As 2027 approaches, the real test is not who holds which post, but whether rival ambitions can truly be kept in check. Can the Congress turn this top-down warning into genuine on- ground cohesion, or will internal rivalries simply resurface once the pressure eases ?

Repeated meetings, warnings, and interventions suggest that unity is being enforced from the top, not forged on the ground. Senior leaders continue to push individual agendas, and every controversy seems to reopen the same fault lines. As the 2027 Assembly elections approach, the real question is no longer about damage control, but direction. Will Punjab Congress be able to evolve a clear leadership consensus, shared messaging, and collective strategy in time or will internal management replace genuine unity until voters expose the gaps at the ballot box ?
