Is economic interdependence failing to translate into strategic trust?
Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring says he will expose both AAP and BJP over the dilution of MGNREGA and take the fight “to every home.” But this raises an awkward question for Congress itself. After ruling Punjab for years and running MGNREGA nationally for over a decade, why is Congress speaking only in the language of protest today, instead of presenting a concrete alternative model or admitting where implementation failed under its own watch ? Is this really a fight for rural workers or a late attempt to reclaim moral high ground after losing political control ? Is Congress leading a genuine battle for jobs or just shouting from the sidelines ?
पंजाब कांग्रेस प्रमुख अमरिंदर सिंह राजा वड़िंग कहते हैं कि वह मनरेगा के कथित कमजोर किए जाने को लेकर आम आदमी पार्टी और भाजपा, दोनों को बेनकाब करेंगे और यह लड़ाई “हर घर” तक ले जाएंगे। लेकिन इससे कांग्रेस के लिए ही एक असहज सवाल खड़ा होता है। सालों तक पंजाब की सत्ता में रहने और एक दशक से ज़्यादा समय तक देश में मनरेगा चलाने के बाद, कांग्रेस आज केवल विरोध की भाषा में ही क्यों बोल रही है ? अपने शासनकाल में योजना के क्रियान्वयन में कहां कमी रही, इस पर आत्ममंथन या कोई ठोस वैकल्पिक मॉडल क्यों नहीं सामने रखा जा रहा ? तो सवाल यह है, क्या यह सच में ग्रामीण मज़दूरों की लड़ाई है या सत्ता खोने के बाद नैतिक बढ़त दोबारा हासिल करने की कोशिश ? क्या कांग्रेस रोज़गार के लिए कोई ठोस नेतृत्व दे रही है या फिर सिर्फ़ किनारे खड़े होकर शोर मचा रही है ?
By removing Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the rural job guarantee law and replacing MGNREGA with the G Ram G Act, the Narendra Modi Government insists it is honouring Gandhi’s vision of Ram Rajya. But this raises a deeper question. Is invoking Gandhi’s ideals while erasing his name, a genuine tribute or a political rewrite meant to break the symbolic link between welfare, the Gandhi legacy, and the Congress-led past ? And as the Modi Government redefines Gandhian ideas on its own terms, is this about reforming rural employment or about sidelining the Gandhi family’s historical claim over Gandhi’s legacy itself ? Is Gandhi being honoured or strategically repurposed ?
