The Aam Aadmi Party came to power promising that Punjab's sand and gravel would no longer enrich the mining mafia but would instead generate ₹20,000 Crores for the state treasury. Four-and-a-half years later, even by the BJP's allegations, the revenue is only a fraction of that promise, while illegal mining continues to dominate headlines. This raises a bigger question: Was the ₹20,000-Crores mining promise a genuine roadmap for reform, or merely one of the biggest political slogans sold to Punjab's voters ? If the Government cannot deliver on one of its flagship guarantees, why should people believe the rest of its promises before 2027 ?
