Yet the latest PLFS data shows that 4.24 Lakhs teenagers aged 14–18 in Punjab are not attending school. That raises a difficult question: Can a government celebrate education reforms when hundreds of thousands of young people are missing from classrooms altogether ? As smart schools, foreign training tours and education campaigns grab headlines, is Punjab building a model for students, or a model that still cannot keep too many students in the system ?
