The root of the destruction of Punjab’s Education System was laid in 1961, when the then Education Minister, Amarnath Vidyalankar, implemented this policy. Since then, many Governments have come and gone, but none have tried to stop this flawed system. Even today, no major reforms are visible in the education structure. The present Government, which came with the slogan of change, has also continued the same system as before. Abolishing the policy does not require any major effort or difficulty—only a slight increase in Government expenditure.
