Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal are reportedly moving to finalise AAP's 2027 Assembly candidates far earlier than usual, giving them a long runway to settle into their constituencies. But the move has sparked a sharper question is AAP showcasing confidence, or quietly acting like a party that knows the honeymoon period is long over ? After sweeping Punjab in 2022 and spending four years in power, does the party believe its MLAs need extra time to reconnect with voters before election season arrives ? And when a ruling party starts preparing candidates this early, is it a sign of strength, or a sign that it has already heard the footsteps of anti-incumbency coming down the road ?

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann says the state is on its way to becoming India's next startup hub, encouraging young entrepreneurs to build global companies from Punjab rather than looking abroad. The vision sounds ambitious and inspiring. But at the same time, Punjab has witnessed repeated protests by contractual employees, outsourced workers, guest faculty, computer teachers, NHM staff and several other categories of workers demanding job security, regularisation and better service conditions. This creates a difficult question before Punjab can become a startup hub, does it first need to convince its existing workforce that stable and dignified employment is possible within the state ? And if government employees and contractual workers are still fighting for certainty about their own futures, what message does that send to young Punjabis being asked to place their faith in the jobs of tomorrow ?
