Congress is considering different starting points for Rahul Gandhi’s proposed Punjab yatra, with some leaders favouring Anandpur Sahib while Punjab Congress leaders have said it will begin from Amritsar. One reason being discussed for the route debate is whether starting at the Golden Temple could bring the Congress’s record and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots into the political conversation. So the intriguing question is: Is Congress choosing the yatra’s route to build a stronger Punjab message or to manage the political questions linked to Punjab’s history, including 1984 ?
