With the 2027 Punjab elections approaching, pressure is growing within the BJP to revive its alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Some leaders favour a tie-up, while others want the BJP to contest all 117 seats alone. Seat-sharing and the BJP’s rural support remain key concerns. Can the BJP expand its reach alone or does it need the SAD’s support to compete in Punjab ? Will an alliance strengthen both parties or trigger fresh tensions over seats and leadership ?

MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has promised a women-led drive against drug traffickers and a special task force headed by a woman DGP if the party returns to power. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party Government is seeking women’s support through its monthly aid of ₹1,000–₹1,500. Can the Shiromani Akali Dal turn women’s concerns over drugs and financial security into political support in 2027 or must it first prove that its promises go beyond election speeches ?
