With KC Venugopal indicating that a decision on the Punjab Congress leadership will come "without much delay", and after separate meetings with Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the suspense around the party's organisational reset has only intensified. Even as senior leaders publicly display unity, the final formula for balancing competing ambitions remains closely guarded. The question is: Is KC Venugopal merely finalising the new leadership team, or trying to prevent a fresh power struggle before 2027 ? If Congress has already made up its mind, why has the announcement taken so long ? And when the new team is finally unveiled, will it end factional politics, or simply move it behind closed doors ?

If the Congress high command appoints Charanjit Singh Channi as Punjab Congress President, an even bigger political question immediately follows: Who then becomes the party's Chief Ministerial face for 2027 ? Will Congress project Channi in both roles, or will it separate organisational leadership from electoral leadership by backing another contender such as Partap Singh Bajwa, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, or another surprise face ? As the reshuffle debate gathers pace, is Congress solving one leadership question, or creating an even bigger one ?
