The BJP is pitching Haryana’s ₹2,100 monthly women’s scheme against Punjab’s ₹1,000 promise, turning welfare into a key 2027 election weapon. But if BJP is using bigger cash benefits to win votes, is it really offering a different politics or simply playing the same “freebie game” it attacks others for ? Is BJP’s women’s welfare push really different from freebie politics ?

Punjab’s debt is projected to reach ₹4.47 Lakh Crores by March 2027, while ₹1.15 Lakh Crores of the state’s estimated revenue is expected to go towards salaries, pensions, loan interest and subsidies. With only about ₹11,000 Crores left for infrastructure, the Aam Aadmi Party Government faces a tough question: Is its welfare model helping Punjab or pushing the state deeper into debt ? What should the Aam Aadmi Party Government do about Punjab’s growing debt ?
