As Manish Sisodia calls for a strict, mission-mode fight against drugs in Punjab and even tells party leaders to leave if they fear drug mafias, the message sounds strong and uncompromising. But at the same time, repeated cases of individuals linked to the system being caught in drug-related incidents raise a tough question about ground reality versus political messaging. If the call is for zero tolerance and accountability at every level, then when such cases keep surfacing, does it point to a gap between intent and execution ? Is the fight against drugs truly reaching the grassroots, or is it still struggling with internal challenges within the system itself ?
In Haryana, the Congress candidate Karamvir Boudh was elected to the Rajya Sabha, but the result told a deeper story. Despite having 37 MLAs, Boudh secured only 28 votes and won by just one vote, turning what should have been a comfortable victory into a tense and narrow escape. The cross-voting, invalid ballots, and visible internal divisions have exposed serious cracks within the party, raising questions about discipline and leadership control under Rahul Gandhi, while state leaders like Bhupinder Singh Hooda were left managing the fallout. If even in a numbers-secure situation like this, Congress cannot ensure unity among its own MLAs, does this point to a deeper and ongoing crisis of internal cohesion within the party, where factionalism, weak discipline, and lack of central control are becoming bigger challenges than electoral competition itself ?
