Rajesh Pathela was BJP’s candidate from Sri Muktsar Sahib in the 2022 Punjab Assembly election, representing the party in a constituency where BJP has long tried to expand beyond limited traditional space. While the seat remains challenging, candidates who stay active after defeat often keep themselves in future contention. As 2027 approaches, the real question is whether Rajesh Pathela has used the years after 2022 to build enough ground presence for a stronger second attempt, or whether BJP may look for a new face to reset its strategy in Sri Muktsar Sahib. Is he still the party’s developing option for the seat, or was 2022 only a temporary experiment ?
राजेश पठेला 2022 पंजाब विधानसभा चुनाव में श्री मुक्तसर साहिब से भाजपा के उम्मीदवार थे, ऐसे क्षेत्र में जहाँ भाजपा लंबे समय से अपनी सीमित पारंपरिक पकड़ से आगे बढ़ने की कोशिश करती रही है। हालांकि यह सीट अब भी चुनौतीपूर्ण मानी जाती है, लेकिन हार के बाद भी सक्रिय रहने वाले उम्मीदवार अक्सर भविष्य की दौड़ में बने रहते हैं। 2027 नज़दीक आते हुए असली सवाल यह है कि क्या राजेश पठेला ने 2022 के बाद के वर्षों में इतना जमीनी आधार बना लिया है कि दूसरी बार ज्यादा मजबूत दावेदारी पेश कर सकें, या भाजपा श्री मुक्तसर साहिब में अपनी रणनीति बदलने के लिए नया चेहरा तलाश सकती है। क्या वह अब भी पार्टी का उभरता विकल्प हैं, या 2022 सिर्फ एक अस्थायी प्रयोग था ?

Sukhminder Singh Pintu, who carried the BJP flag in the last election, remains a known face and stayed in the contest when the party was struggling for space. But being available and being the first choice are often two different things in politics. As 2027 approaches, the real question is whether BJP will reward loyalty and continuity by trusting Sukhminder Singh Pintu again, or whether his previous result may push the party to search for a bigger surname or fresher face. Is Pintu now the natural claimant for Amritsar North, or merely a placeholder until BJP decides on a stronger gamble ?
