Former Punjab CM, Charanjit Singh Channi has increasingly projected himself as Congress’s natural Chief Ministerial face for Punjab. Yet, the party high command has offered no clear signal, no formal endorsement, and no roadmap for leadership ahead of 2027. Is Channi shaping a leadership narrative from below because Congress lacks direction in Punjab or is he overplaying ambition in a party that still hasn’t decided who should lead it ? Is this quiet self-projection filling a vacuum or creating a new fault line ?
