Despite never winning Punjab on its own, the BJP is emerging as a preferred destination for leaders leaving the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal. Recent entrants include AAP MLAs Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh. Earlier, Raghav Chadha and five other AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, H.S. Phoolka, Jagmeet Brar and several Akali leaders also joined the BJP. While the BJP gains experienced leaders and their local networks, these repeated defections raise questions about political loyalty and the party’s own strength in Punjab. Has the BJP become a political shelter for leaders seeking power, tickets and survival, rather than a party attracting them through its ideology ?

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਮ 'ਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ, ਭਾਜਪਾ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ, ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਛੱਡਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਸੰਦੀਦਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਬਣਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਚੇਤਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੌੜਾਮਾਜਰਾ, ਹਰਮੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਠਾਨਮਾਜਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੁੰਵਰ ਵਿਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਾਘਵ ਚੱਢਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਪੰਜ ਹੋਰ ਰਾਜ ਸਭਾ ਮੈਂਬਰ, ਐਚ.ਐਸ. ਫੂਲਕਾ, ਜਗਮੀਤ ਬਰਾੜ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਆਗੂ ਵੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਜਰਬੇਕਾਰ ਆਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਨੈੱਟਵਰਕ ਮਿਲ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਲ-ਬਦਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਲਈ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਨਾਹਗਾਹ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਸੱਤਾ, ਟਿਕਟ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ ?
