Formed in August 2025 as a reformist Panthic alternative after splitting from the Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal, Punar Surjit has seen one prominent leader after another walk out. Surjit Singh Rakhra joined the Aam Aadmi Party, Charanjit Singh Brar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Barjinder Singh Brar returned to the Shiromani Akali Dal. Manpreet Singh Ayali and Iqbal Singh Jhundan moved towards Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De). Chandumajra has also left. With so many prominent faces gone, what exactly are the leaders still in Punar Surjit holding on to ? Has Punar Surjit become a platform without its key leaders, with those still inside struggling to keep alive a political movement that has lost its direction ?

ਅਗਸਤ 2025 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਸੁਧਾਰਵਾਦੀ ਪੰਥਕ ਬਦਲ ਵਜੋਂ ਬਣੇ ਪੁਨਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਕ ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਛੱਡਣ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਰੱਖੜਾ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਜਨਤਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤ ਆਏ। ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਯਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਬਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਝੂੰਦਾਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ (ਵਾਰਿਸ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ) ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਚੰਦੂਮਾਜਰਾ ਵੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਛੱਡ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਚਿਹਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਪੁਨਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਗੂ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਕਿਸ ਆਸ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ? ਕੀ ਪੁਨਰ ਸੁਰਜੀਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਇਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਮੰਚ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਆਗੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਗੁਆ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਊਂਦਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ?
