With the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections approaching, Congress leaders have reportedly asked whether the party should announce its chief ministerial candidate in advance. KC Venugopal rejected that approach, saying the election would be fought under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and that every senior leader could be considered for the top post. He also said the next chief minister would come from among the senior state leaders. 2027 ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਥਿਤ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਐਲਾਨਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਕੇ.ਸੀ. ਵੇਣੂਗੋਪਾਲ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਲੜੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵੇਦਾਰ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਗਲਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਜੇ ਹਰ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਆਗੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਵੀ ਦਾਅਵੇਦਾਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਧੜੇ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਇਹ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਕੌਣ ਕਰੇਗਾ ?
