Talk of a possible BJP–Shiromani Akali Dal alliance has raised a bigger question about who would lead the alliance. BJP has publicly pushed for a larger role, including equal seat-sharing in recent statements, while earlier reports had described its demand for a “big brother” position. So, if the Shiromani Akali Dal accepts BJP’s terms and allows BJP to play the bigger role, can Sukhbir Singh Badal still remain the alliance’s CM face or would the leadership question become the real deal-breaker ?

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਸੰਭਾਵਿਤ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੌਣ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ ਹਾਲੀਆ ਬਿਆਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਸੀਟ ਵੰਡ ਸਮੇਤ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ “ਵੱਡੇ ਭਰਾ” ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਸੀ। ਤਾਂ ਜੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਰਤਾਂ ਮੰਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ?
