The Aam Aadmi Party Government had recently rolled out its monthly women’s assistance scheme, with ₹1,000 for eligible women in the general category and ₹1,500 for eligible SC women. The scheme was a major 2022 election promise and has now become part of the government’s 2027 record. But cash support is only one part of governance. Punjab voters are also looking at jobs, drugs, crime, education, farming, migration, debt and economic growth. Can Aam Aadmi Party defend ₹1,000 as proof of delivery or will voters ask what happened to everything beyond the cheque ?

ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਹੀਨਾਵਾਰ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਹਿਤ ਯੋਗ ਆਮ ਵਰਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ₹1,000 ਅਤੇ ਯੋਗ ਅਨੁਸੂਚਿਤ ਜਾਤੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ₹1,500 ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਯੋਜਨਾ 2022 ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਦਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ 2027 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ ਦੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ, ਨਸ਼ਾ, ਜੁਰਮ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ, ਪਰਵਾਸ, ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਕੀ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ₹1,000 ਨੂੰ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਬੂਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਪੁੱਛਣਗੇ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਚੈੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ ?

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਰਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ, ਜਨਗਣਨਾ, ਨਸ਼ਾ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਡਿਊਟੀ ਵਰਗੇ ਗੈਰ-ਵਿੱਦਿਅਕ ਕੰਮ ਸੌਂਪੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਬੋਝ ਹੇਠ ਹਨ। ਜੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ “ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ” ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਲਾਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ? ਜਦੋਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਦਬਾਅ ਹੇਠ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਘਟਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ?

At the same time, the Government has acknowledged that teachers are already overworked. If the Bhagwant Mann Government wants an “education revolution”, why are teachers being pulled out of classrooms to handle work meant for other departments ?
