The BJP’s Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra has opened another front in its relationship with Punjab’s farmers. Farmers have questioned why the BJP is running a campaign against drugs in Punjab while drug consignments are still being reported as entering through the international border. They have also asked the BJP to explain the Centre’s concrete steps to stop cross-border smuggling instead of placing the entire responsibility on the Punjab Government. With BJP and Punjab’s farmers already carrying the baggage of past clashes, can the party convince them that its anti-drug campaign is about solving Punjab’s crisis or will every new BJP campaign face the shadow of that old political tussle ?

Suggestions - SLAH

A) BJP needs to rebuild trust with farmers before expecting their support on bigger issues.

B) Farmers may listen to the drug campaign, but past conflicts will not disappear easily.

C) BJP should answer farmers’ concerns instead of expecting the yatra alone to change perceptions.

D) The drug crisis should not become another battleground in the BJP-farmer tussle.

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਕਤ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੌਮਾਂਤਰੀ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੇਪਾਂ ਆਉਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਚਲਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਪਾਰੋਂ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਠੋਸ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਬਜਾਏ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਜਾਵੇ। ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਟਕਰਾਅ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠਭੂਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿਵਾ ਸਕੇਗੀ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੀ ਨਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਸੰਕਟ ਹੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਹਰ ਨਵੀਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਟਕਰਾਅ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਹੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ?
