Why does the BJP maintain such tight control over what its Punjab leaders say publicly, when Punjab’s elections have often seen major decisions and campaign strategy shaped by leaders from outside the state ? From central leadership to outside state in-charges, much of the political direction is set beyond Punjab, while local leaders often have limited space to question decisions or present their own views. Does this centralised approach help BJP maintain one clear line or is it leaving Punjab leaders too little room to build an independent political voice ?
