Drug menace has haunted Punjab for years, with successive governments promising to eradicate it. Now, ahead of the 2027 elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a nationwide anti-drug campaign, giving the BJP a fresh political pitch in Punjab. But here’s the uncomfortable question: if the BJP has been in power at the Centre for years, why is the drug menace becoming a major electoral pitch now ? Is this about solving Punjab’s drug crisis or seeking votes on an issue that has remained unresolved for years ?

D) Punjab needs action, not another election cycle where the drug crisis becomes a political weapon.
