Pargat Singh’s political journey has crossed the Shiromani Akali Dal, a political group with Navjot Singh Sidhu, and the Congress, while his role has changed from MLA to minister and then Punjab Congress Chief. After winning Jalandhar Cantonment for the Shiromani Akali Dal in 2012, he was suspended by the party in 2016 after raising questions about its functioning.
