2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੇ ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਮੀਦ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਲਿਤ ਪਛਾਣ ਅਤੇ “ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ” ਵਾਲੀ ਛਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਨੂੰ 117 ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 18 ਸੀਟਾਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਚੰਨੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੀਟਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ। ਹੁਣ ਚੰਨੀ ਮੁੜ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਚਿਹਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਹਾਈਕਮਾਨ ਨੇ 2027 ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਨਾ ਐਲਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ ਹੈ। ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਅਵੇਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਜਾਂ ਅਸਿੱਧੇ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਕੀ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਕੀ 2027 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਨਾ ਐਲਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਹੈ ?
