Nearly 32% of Punjab's population belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, making social representation an important political reality. Ahead of 2027, the Punjab Congress is once again balancing Dalit, Jat Sikh and Hindu leadership while reshaping its organisation. Yet in 2022, despite projecting Punjab's first Dalit Chief Minister, the party was reduced to just 18 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party won 92. As the Congress rewrites its political equation once again, one question remains: Has the party become too focused on electoral arithmetic and forgotten the simple political equation of earning Punjab's trust ?
