Punjab politics has seen leaders switch parties before, but the Majithia brothers almost turned it into a full time family hobby. In 2022, one brother, Sukhjinder Raj Singh “Lalli” Majithia, fought from Majitha on an AAP ticket, while the other brother, Jagwinder Pal Singh “Jagga” Majithia, fought against him on a Congress ticket. Then politics did its magic: Lalli left AAP and joined Akali Dal in 2024, while Jagga first left Congress for AAP and now has even resigned from AAP too. At this point, Punjab voters are probably more confused about their party symbols than the brothers themselves. The real question now is, are the Majithia brothers following ideology, or have they reached that classic “belonging nowhere fully” stage of politics where leaders keep changing camps so often that voters stop knowing who actually stands where anymore ?

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਬਦਲਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਵੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਲਗਭਗ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਭਰਾ, ਸੁਖਜਿੰਦਰ ਰਾਜ ਸਿੰਘ “ਲਾਲੀ” ਮਜੀਠੀਆ, ਮਜੀਠਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਟਿਕਟ ‘ਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਲੜੇ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਰਾ, ਜਗਵਿੰਦਰ ਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ “ਜੱਗਾ” ਮਜੀਠੀਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਲਾਫ਼ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਟਿਕਟ ‘ਤੇ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ। ਫਿਰ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਖੇਡ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ: ਲਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਜੁਆਇਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਜੱਗਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਵੀ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਦੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਹੁਣ ਹਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਖੁਦ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੋਣ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਲਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਅਸਲੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਮਜੀਠੀਆ ਭਰਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਮੋੜ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵਾਰ ਵਾਰ ਪਾਲਾ ਬਦਲਦੇ ਬਦਲਦੇ ਨੇਤਾ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ “ਨਾ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾ ਘਾਟ ਦੇ” ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਕਿ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਇਹ ਖੜੇ ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਹਨ ?
