Jagdeep Singh Cheema’s move from Shiromani Akali Dal to BJP added another familiar Punjab face to the saffron camp, bringing legacy value, local recognition, and experience from Amloh and Fatehgarh Sahib contests. But joining a party and becoming its first-choice candidate are often very different milestones. BJP in Punjab is still balancing old loyalists, fresh entrants, and constituency equations while trying to expand. The real question now is whether Jagdeep Singh Cheema carries enough stature inside BJP to secure a serious ticket when the time comes, or whether he may remain useful as a symbolic recruit without guaranteed electoral reward.
