With Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy publicly urging Rahul Gandhi to accept the role of the Opposition’s Prime Ministerial face and some Congress leaders quickly echoing the demand, the race to project a leader for the INDIA bloc seems to have begun years before the 2029 general elections. Yet, after multiple electoral setbacks for the Congress and the continued rise of strong regional leaders like Mamata Banerjee and M.K. Stalin, the move has also raised questions about whether the push for Rahul Gandhi is driven more by party loyalty than by proven national electoral success.
