After switching from Congress to the BJP, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi was seen as a big political catch for a party trying to strengthen its base in Punjab and add an experienced Sikh face to its leadership mix. But as the BJP continues to search for both organisational depth and wider acceptability ahead of 2027, the bigger question is whether the move has really brought Sodhi closer to the centre of power or left him as just another senior face waiting for the party’s rise to match his ambitions.
