With Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini making repeated visits to Punjab, wearing a turban, speaking Punjabi, and being projected as a key face to mobilise the Saini community ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, the BJP’s social engineering strategy is becoming increasingly visible. At a time when Patiala alone has around 1.5 lakh Saini voters and the party is expanding its base seat by seat, the outreach appears carefully targeted rather than symbolic. Is BJP’s aggressive projection of Nayab Singh Saini in Punjab a smart community-based expansion strategy for 2027 or does relying on a Haryana leader risk reinforcing the perception that the party still lacks a strong homegrown leadership face in the state ?
