After serving as a Congress MLA from Bassi Pathana (2017–2022), Gurpreet Singh GP lost the Assembly election in 2022, quit the Congress in March 2024, joined the Aam Aadmi Party, and then went on to lose the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Fatehgarh Sahib to Congress MP Amar Singh by over 34,000 votes. Yet, instead of fading away, GP has since been elevated as AAP’s Punjab state president of the SC wing, placing him firmly within the party’s organisational core as 2027 approaches. ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਜਵਾ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਬਿਆਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਹੋਰ ਤਿੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਬਾਜਵਾ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਜਨਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਰਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਹਤ “ਮਾਡਲ” ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਅੰਗਮਈ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਨੇਤਾ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਰੀਫ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੇਜਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਖੁਦ ਉੱਥੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
