After winning three Assembly terms from Khadoor Sahib and Baba Bakala with the Akali Dal, Manjit Singh Manna Mianwind switched to the BJP ahead of the 2022 Punjab elections, lost from Baba Bakala, and was later fielded by the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Khadoor Sahib. Now, in 2026, his BJP stint is marked more by a change of party and narrative than by electoral success under the new banner. Has Manna’s move to the BJP helped him rebuild political relevance or has it cemented the image of a seasoned turncoat struggling to recreate the influence he once had in the Akali Dal ?

ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਬਕਾਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਟ ‘ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਾਰ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਮਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੰਨਾ ਮੀਆਂਵਿੰਡ 2022 ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਬਾਬਾ ਬਕਾਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ 2024 ਦੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਡੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਹੁਣ 2026 ਵਿੱਚ, ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਚੋਣ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਬਦਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਮੰਨਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਮੁੜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਅਨੁਭਵੀ ਦਲ-ਬਦਲੂ ਵਜੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਪੱਕੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਮੁੜ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ ?
