Harmeet Singh Sandhu’s political journey is marked by sharp turns and well-timed moves. He entered the Punjab Assembly in 2002 as an Independent from Tarn Taran, switched to the Shiromani Akali Dal to win again in 2007, rose further as Chief Parliamentary Secretary in 2011, and was re-elected in 2012. After defeats in 2017 and 2022, Sandhu left the Akali Dal and joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2025, a move that paid off when he won the Tarn Taran bypoll on an AAP ticket the same year. ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਧਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਜਵਾ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਬਿਆਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਹੋਰ ਤਿੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਬਾਜਵਾ ਨੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਪਮਾਨਜਨਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਰਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਹਤ “ਮਾਡਲ” ’ਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਅੰਗਮਈ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਨੇਤਾ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਰੀਫ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੇਜਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਖੁਦ ਉੱਥੇ ਇਲਾਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
