Before coming to power, Bhagwant Mann promised to wipe out Punjab’s huge debt burden. But under the AAP Government, Punjab’s debt has soared to around ₹3.82 Lakh Crores and is projected to near ₹4.17 Lakh Crores by March 2026, making it one of the most indebted states per capita in India at over ₹1.23 lakh per person.

ਸੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਹੇਠ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਵੱਧ ਕੇ ਲਗਭਗ ₹3.82 ਲੱਖ ਕਰੋੜ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਚ 2026 ਤੱਕ ਇਸ ਦੇ ₹4.17 ਲੱਖ ਕਰੋੜ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕਰਜ਼ੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਕਰਜ਼ੇਦਾਰ ਸੂਬਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ₹1.23 ਲੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹੈ।
