With just 11,454 votes (9.1%) in Ludhiana North, R.D. Sharma finished far behind the main race. For a three-time councillor and former deputy mayor, the result raised clear questions. Sharma left the BJP and joined Akali Dal in 2021, hoping the move would help him grow politically. But the vote count tells a different story. Did changing parties fail to win voter trust or was his support limited beyond local politics ? As 2027 nears, can such a low vote share be turned into a serious challenge or does it show the limits of his reach ?

लुधियाना उत्तर में 2022 में सिर्फ 11,454 वोट (9.1%) मिलने के बाद आर.डी. शर्मा मुख्य मुकाबले से काफी पीछे रह गए। तीन बार पार्षद और पूर्व डिप्टी मेयर रहे नेता के लिए यह नतीजा कई सवाल खड़े करता है। शर्मा 2021 में भाजपा छोड़कर अकाली दल में चले गए थे, यह सोचकर कि इससे उनकी राजनीति को नया रास्ता मिलेगा। लेकिन वोटों का आंकड़ा कुछ और ही कहानी कहता है। क्या पार्टी बदलने से मतदाताओं का भरोसा नहीं बन पाया या फिर उनकी पकड़ स्थानीय राजनीति तक ही सीमित रही ? 2027 करीब है, तो सवाल साफ है, क्या इतना कम वोट शेयर किसी बड़ी चुनौती में बदला जा सकता है या यह उनकी सीमित पहुंच को दिखाता है ?

2022 में सिर्फ 8,220 वोट (8.35%) मिलने के बाद लुधियाना सेंट्रल में अकाली दल के नतीजों ने पार्टी की दिशा पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े कर दिए। प्रितपाल सिंह पाली मुख्य मुकाबले से काफी पीछे रह गए, जबकि शहरी मतदाताओं का रुझान साफ़ तौर पर बदलता दिखा। जैसे-जैसे 2027 नजदीक आ रहा है, सवाल और तीखा हो गया है। क्या अकाली दल को लुधियाना सेंट्रल में प्रितपाल सिंह पाली के साथ ही आगे बढ़ना चाहिए या अब किसी युवा चेहरे के जरिए बदलाव का संकेत देना ज़रूरी हो गया है ? और अगर पार्टी ने फिर भी नवीनीकरण से परहेज किया, तो क्या वह इस तेजी से बदल रही सीट में और हाशिये पर चली जाएगी ?
