Darbara Singh Guru, once among the most trusted IAS officers of the Badal family and Principal Secretary to Parkash Singh Badal, later entered politics as an administrator-turned-politician. He was the Shiromani Akali Dal candidate from Bassi Pathana in 2017 but lost both the Assembly election and a later Lok Sabha contest from Fatehgarh Sahib. With SAD’s 2022 BSP alliance candidate now in the BJP, and the party’s ground strength weakened, the 2027 question is simple, can the Akali Dal still trust Darbara Singh Guru to revive itself in Bassi Pathana or has the seat moved beyond familiar names and old equations under the current leadership of Sukhbir Singh Badal ?

ਨਿਹਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਣੂੰਕੇ ਨੇ 2022 ਦੀ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਟ ‘ਤੇ ਲੜੀ ਅਤੇ 26,758 ਵੋਟਾਂ (19.1%) ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ। ਉਹ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਰਹੇ, ਪਰ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ। ਨਤੀਜਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਫ਼ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮਾਣੂੰਕੇ ਕੋਲ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪੱਕਾ ਵੋਟ ਅਧਾਰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਘੇਰਾ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਕਾਮ ਰਹੀ। ਹੁਣ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਪੁਨਰ ਸੂਰਜੀਤ ਧੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ 2027 ਲਈ ਸਵਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕੀ ਇਹ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਮਾਣੂੰਕੇ ਲਈ ਨਵਾਂ ਰਾਹ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੇਗਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਿਮਟ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਜੋ ਹਲਕਾ ਹੁਣ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ? ਕੀ ਉਹ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਧੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਗੈਰ-ਫੈਸਲਾਕੁੰਨ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ?
