Sheetal Angural’s political journey has come full circle, from BJP to AAP, winning Jalandhar West in 2022, then quitting AAP to rejoin BJP in 2024, only to lose the 2024 bypoll badly. His resignation was accepted under the anti-defection law, his attempt to withdraw it was rejected, and the seat slipped away to another turncoat, Mohinder Bhagat, who switched from BJP to AAP. In a constituency shaken by party-hopping and personal rivalries, Angural’s switch became the centre of the contest rather than governance. So as Punjab looks ahead to 2027, is Sheetal Angural’s story a lesson in political miscalculation or proof that voters are now punishing leaders who change sides too often ?
