The BJP did not contest the Budhlada Assembly seat in 2022, reflecting its limited confidence on the ground in this Malwa constituency. Now, with former Budhlada MLA Mangat Rai Bansal, who won the seat in 2007 on a Congress ticket, joining the BJP in 2024 and being appointed constituency incharge, the party appears to be testing old electoral muscle in a new uniform. So the real question heading into 2027 is - Will the BJP finally take the risk of contesting Budhlada by trusting Mangat Rai Bansal as its face or will his Congress past and the party’s weak base keep Budhlada outside BJP’s serious electoral plans ?

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਨੇ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਢਲਾਡਾ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਸੀਟ ਤੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਮਾਲਵਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਪਕੜ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ 2007 ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਟ ’ਤੇ ਬੁਢਲਾਡਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਰਹੇ ਮੰਗਤ ਰਾਏ ਬਾਂਸਲ ਦੇ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਲਕਾ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਨਾਲ, ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੇਂ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਖਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ 2027 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਸਲੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਬੁਢਲਾਡਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਚੋਣੀ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੰਗਤ ਰਾਏ ਬਾਂਸਲ ’ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਂਗਰਸੀ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਅਧਾਰ ਬੁਢਲਾਡਾ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੀ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ ?
