दरशन सिंह शिवालिक 2022 के गिल विधानसभा चुनाव में एक पूर्व अकाली दल विधायक (2012) के तौर पर मैदान में उतरे थे। यह मुकाबला खास इसलिए था क्योंकि इसमें पूर्व कांग्रेस विधायक कुलदीप सिंह वैद (2017) भी शामिल थे। अनुभव होने के बावजूद, AAP की लहर के सामने शिवालिक को दूसरे स्थान पर रहना पड़ा और जीत काफी दूर रही। इसके बाद उनका बाग़ी अकाली दल गुट के साथ जाना उनके राजनीतिक भविष्य को और अनिश्चित बनाता है।

Darshan Singh Shivalik entered the 2022 Gill election as a former SAD MLA (2012) in a rare multi-cornered contest that also included Ex-Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid (2017). Despite his experience, Shivalik finished a distant second as AAP swept the seat. Since then, his alignment with the rebel Akali Dal group has added another layer of uncertainty to his political future.
In Kartarpur, the Shiromani Akali Dal registered wins in 2007 and 2012, but has failed to make a dent since then. In 2022, Akali Dal fought in alliance with the BSP, and BSP candidate Advocate Balwinder Kumar secured 33,709 votes (27.2%), showing visible strength but not enough to reclaim the seat. As 2027 approaches, an important question emerges: can the Akali Dal–BSP combine revive Kartarpur after more than a decade without a win or has the seat moved beyond their old formula ?
करतारपुर में शिरोमणि अकाली दल ने 2007 और 2012 में जीत दर्ज की थी, लेकिन उसके बाद पार्टी यहां कोई खास असर नहीं दिखा पाई। 2022 में अकाली दल ने बसपा के साथ गठबंधन में चुनाव लड़ा, जिसमें बसपा उम्मीदवार एडवोकेट बलविंदर कुमार को 33,709 वोट (27.2%) मिले। यह समर्थन मजबूत था, लेकिन सीट वापस पाने के लिए काफी नहीं रहा। अब जब 2027 नज़दीक आ रहा है, तो सवाल अहम हो जाता है: क्या अकाली दल–बसपा गठबंधन एक दशक से ज़्यादा समय बाद करतारपुर में वापसी कर पाएगा या यह सीट अब उनकी पुरानी रणनीति से आगे निकल चुकी है ?
