Rahul Gandhi has spent years attacking governments, leading protests, and projecting himself as a national alternative. Yet one detail stands out in his long political career: he has never taken charge of a state as Chief Minister, even when Congress had the numbers and the opportunity. So the sharper, more uncomfortable question is this, is Rahul Gandhi avoiding the CM’s chair because he believes national leadership should come without a trial run or because a real test of governance could expose limits that slogans and speeches never do ?

ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ, ਅੰਦੋਲਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਕਲਪ ਵਜੋਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੰਮੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣੇ, ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਕਾ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ। ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਅਸਲੀ ਤੇ ਅਸੁਖਾਵਾਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ: ਕੀ ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ‘ਅਜ਼ਮਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਦੌਰ’ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਅਸਲ ਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੀ ਪਰਖ ਨਾਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਸਕਦੀ ਸੀ ?
