ਸ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਥਰੂਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਧਾਰਕ ਕਾਰਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਾਵਰਕਰ ਇਨਾਮ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਆਪ ਸਾਵਰਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਗੁੰਝਲਦਾਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਚਿੰਤਕ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਬੈਠਕਾਂ 'ਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ, ਪਰ ਉੱਚ ਵਰਗ ਸਮਾਗਮਾਂ, ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਪੂਤਿਨ ਦੇ ਡਿਨਰ 'ਚ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਏ। ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ “ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ” ਹਨ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਭੈਣ–ਭਰਾ ਚੁੱਪਚਾਪ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਆਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿ ਤੂਫ਼ਾਨ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਠੰਢਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇ। ਤਾਂ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਥਰੂਰ ਕੀ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪਣੀ ਉਦਾਰ ਛਵੀ, ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਜਾਂ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ?
