Once Sukhbir Singh Badal’s unbeatable bastion, Jalalabad has now turned into Punjab’s political minefield. In 2017, it saw a star-studded battle, Sukhbir Badal vs Bhagwant Mann vs Ravneet Bittu. Yet by 2022, the unimaginable happened: AAP’s Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy demolished Sukhbir on his home turf. Congress had once tasted success here when Raminder Singh Awla won the 2019 bypoll after Sukhbir moved to Ferozepur. But now, as 2027 approaches, the question returns, Can Congress reclaim Jalalabad? Who should Congress field from Jalalabad to revive its spirit or test its luck again?
