BJP’s Punjab campaign is increasingly being led from the national stage, with Union ministers and senior central leaders taking the spotlight in major campaigns. At the same time, several Punjab BJP leaders appear to have a much smaller public role in these campaigns. As the party prepares for 2027, is there a risk that its state leaders remain overshadowed by the national leadership, and will voters remember the Punjab faces when it is time to ask who actually led the campaign on the ground ?

The BJP is taking its anti-drug campaign across Punjab, with its leaders proposing rehabilitation, employment and awareness alongside action against drug networks. The party has also announced a wider strategy and roadmap for tackling the crisis. But the political question is bigger than another campaign or yatra: If BJP wants to make drugs a major 2027 issue, how will it answer questions about its own role at the Centre, its past political alliances in Punjab, and what concrete steps it would take beyond campaigning ?
