Punjab has seen several prominent leaders move across political camps. Jagmeet Singh Brar, Sunil Kumar Jakhar, Captain Amarinder Singh and Ravneet Singh Bittu have each taken different political paths involving party switches. Captain Amarinder Singh has now said that after four years in the BJP, he had “gained nothing” and had not been consulted on Punjab-related matters. He has also said he does not plan to return to Congress. So, when leaders repeatedly change political homes, does it expand their political options or make voters question the journey they left behind ?
पंजाब में कई प्रमुख नेताओं ने अलग-अलग राजनीतिक खेमों का रुख किया है। जगमीत सिंह बराड़, सुनील कुमार जाखड़, कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह और रवनीत सिंह बिट्टू ने अलग-अलग राजनीतिक यात्राओं में दल बदले हैं। कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने अब कहा है कि भाजपा में चार साल रहने के बाद उन्हें “कुछ हासिल नहीं हुआ” और पंजाब से जुड़े मामलों में उनसे सलाह नहीं ली गई। उन्होंने यह भी कहा है कि वह कांग्रेस में वापस नहीं जाएंगे। ऐसे में, जब नेता बार-बार राजनीतिक घर बदलते हैं, तो क्या इससे उनके राजनीतिक विकल्प बढ़ते हैं या मतदाताओं को उनकी पिछली राजनीतिक यात्रा पर सवाल उठाने का मौका मिलता है ?
BJP Punjab has taken its Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra across the state, with Manpreet Singh Badal presenting a strategy focused on treatment, rehabilitation, jobs and action against drug trafficking. That puts him in a visible role on one of Punjab’s biggest political issues. But ahead of the 2027 elections, could Manpreet Singh Badal be given a bigger role in BJP Punjab’s campaign or will his role remain centred mainly on the drug issue ? Can he use this campaign to build a wider political presence across Punjab ?
