Under Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, power no longer seems content with winning elections alone. It seeks permanence. From openly owning the RSS worldview in Parliament to tightening control over institutions, laws, and even election processes, the Modi–Shah model appears less about persuasion and more about domination. What was once sold as “strong leadership” increasingly looks like rule by command, where dissent is managed, institutions are bent, and democracy is reduced to a controlled exercise. Are Modi and Shah governing India or systematically redesigning it so that power never really changes hands ?
नरेंद्र मोदी और अमित शाह के नेतृत्व में सत्ता अब सिर्फ चुनाव जीतने तक सीमित नहीं दिखती, बल्कि उसे स्थायी बनाने की कोशिश नजर आती है। संसद में खुले तौर पर RSS की विचारधारा को अपनाने से लेकर संस्थाओं, कानूनों और यहां तक कि चुनावी प्रक्रियाओं पर नियंत्रण बढ़ाने तक, मोदी–शाह मॉडल अब सहमति से ज़्यादा आदेश पर आधारित लगता है। जो कभी “मजबूत नेतृत्व” के रूप में पेश किया गया था, वह अब ऐसा शासन दिखने लगा है जहाँ असहमति को संभाला जाता है, संस्थाओं को मोड़ा जाता है और लोकतंत्र को एक नियंत्रित प्रक्रिया बना दिया जाता है। तो असली सवाल यह है, क्या मोदी और शाह भारत का शासन कर रहे हैं या व्यवस्था को इस तरह बदल रहे हैं कि सत्ता कभी हाथ से न जाए ?

BJP leaders who otherwise speak loudly on women’s dignity and “Indian values” suddenly find explanations for the act when it comes from an ally. So the real question is this: Has Nitish Kumar’s political usefulness to the BJP made him immune to criticism, even when a woman’s dignity is involved ?
