Formed in August 2025 as a reformist Panthic alternative after splitting from the Sukhbir Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal, Punar Surjit has seen one prominent leader after another walk out. Surjit Singh Rakhra joined the Aam Aadmi Party, Charanjit Singh Brar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Barjinder Singh Brar returned to the Shiromani Akali Dal. Manpreet Singh Ayali and Iqbal Singh Jhundan moved towards Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De). Chandumajra has also left. With so many prominent faces gone, what exactly are the leaders still in Punar Surjit holding on to ? Has Punar Surjit become a platform without its key leaders, with those still inside struggling to keep alive a political movement that has lost its direction ?
अगस्त 2025 में सुखबीर सिंह बादल के नेतृत्व वाले शिरोमणि अकाली दल से अलग होकर एक सुधारवादी पंथक विकल्प के रूप में बने पुनर सुरजीत को अब एक के बाद एक कई प्रमुख नेताओं के पार्टी छोड़ने का सामना करना पड़ा है। सुरजीत सिंह रखड़ा आम आदमी पार्टी में शामिल हो गए, चरणजीत सिंह बराड़ ने भारतीय जनता पार्टी का दामन थाम लिया और बरजिंदर सिंह बराड़ शिरोमणि अकाली दल में लौट आए। मनप्रीत सिंह अयाली और इकबाल सिंह झूंदां अकाली दल (वारिस पंजाब दे) की अगुवाई करने लगे। चंदूमाजरा भी पार्टी छोड़ चुके हैं। इतने सारे प्रमुख चेहरों के जाने के बाद, पुनर सुरजीत में बचे नेता आखिर किस उम्मीद के सहारे टिके हुए हैं ? क्या पुनर सुरजीत अपने प्रमुख नेताओं के बिना एक ऐसा राजनीतिक मंच बनकर रह गया है, जिसके बचे हुए नेता अपनी दिशा खो चुके आंदोलन को जीवित रखने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहे हैं ?
At a youth rally in Jagraon, Youth Akali Dal president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer announced plans to give 50% of party tickets to young candidates in 2027. Sukhbir Singh Badal also promised ₹10 Lakhs to help young people start businesses and skill development centres in every district. Can the Shiromani Akali Dal turn these promises into real opportunities for Punjab’s youth, or is it trying to win back their support before 2027 ?
