As the Punjab Congress searches for a strong Chief Ministerial face for 2027, Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa is once again in the conversation. Interestingly, he was also a frontrunner during the 2021 leadership change but was not chosen for the top post. Later, he served as one of Punjab’s Deputy Chief Ministers and built a reputation for his aggressive stand on sacrilege, law-and-order issues, and sharp political attacks. With a solid base in Majha and administrative experience, Randhawa remains a serious contender, but the question is whether this time the opportunity will translate into the top job.
