Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, a close associate of Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, was fielded by AAP in the 2024 Barnala by-election, which took place after Meet Hayer vacated the Barnala Assembly seat upon becoming an MP. Dhaliwal had been part of Meet Hayer’s team since 2013, contributing to every campaign, though he never held any official organisational post. Now the real question is- Was Harinder Dhaliwal truly being groomed as Barnala’s next AAP leader or was he simply a temporary “loyalist candidate” filling the seat until 2027?
